Globalisation ushered a developmental paradigm in India, brought growth in manufacturing and services sectors, and enabled achievement of long term socio- economic goals.

The new model of globalization is influenced heavily by Industry 4.0, which is not only revolutionizing manufacturing processes but also having a powerful impact on the workforce and increasing the ease of access to services using digital platforms. It is imperative to deliberate upon its impact on India, and its envisaged role in the global economy.

In a country of 1.25 billion, the new avatar of globalization needs to promote equitable growth across the regions, and enable bridging the gap between the ‘haves’ and ‘have-nots’. The government and private sector will have to play an important role, in developing new models of governance, policy frameworks and technology adoption with an ambition to drive inclusive growth and investment opportunities in new areas. India could be a role model for others to follow.
